Why I will certainly not vote for Teodoro

He is the Arroyos Standard Bearer, If you want justice then you will certainly not get it with this loyal Dog of the Arroyos. His wife, a congress woman (and former beauty queen) is a ChaCha thrall, which emphasizes how loyal this guy is. Yeah, he maybe "smarter" and better qualified than Noynoy but between the two Noynoy actually is starting to grow bigger balls then Teodoro. Noynoy is actually facing off the Catholic Church, who was quick to sell him and was just as quick to attack him after Noynoy's RHB support. I guess the thing about being where he is, Noynoy only owes 2 people for his position: and they are both dead. Still I'm unchanged in my decision. I'd rather Villar run, there is a better chance of him serving the Arroys on a silver platter for the public to distract from his own inconsitencies and to sate the lust for justice of the people. Since the RHB is an overwhelmingly popular Bill the Church's horns are showing Padre . Playing political gam...

... and another thing

my relatives are making answer an opus dei questionnaire about the sacraments of matrimony. These relatives don't know my wife and I are secularists. Its for my 2nd yr HS cousin's report so I'm just gonna keep saying "The catholic church says this and that..." so that I wouldnt sound so much like a hypocrite -_- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Creationists

OUch!!! I can't watch this, its very painful. Its like someone who learns to blow into a flute thinking they know how to make music but doesn't know they are just make loud irritating noises. The fact that she thinks she can make her stance more "right" by cutting dawkin's opportunity to explain is an iceberg of proof that she is not trying to understand him or his points but trying to get a foot into the door no in what ever loquatious tactic... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR infuriating. you may thank Pharyngula for the anguish :P

Vigilance and Secularism

Why am I an anti-religious nut? Well, if the power hungry could be held in check by someone else, then I wouldn't need to be vigilant. Then again, if I wouldn't need to be vigilant in the first place then I wouldn't be in a state of mental preparedness that allows me to cut through crap, prevent from being fooled or taken advantaged off. Check out also my new blog addition: http://doubtreligion.blogspot.com/ Source: Pharyngula (again)

A Loophole in Existance

The book isn't very clear though is it? What kind of average? Mean? Median? Mode? This is why we have clarifications, FAQs and such. At any rate, I think you are missing my point. I'm saying that IQ 10 doesn't mean anything differently in 1453 than it does in 2009. Therefore the 1453 equivalent of a template that in 2009 would have a modestly high IQ (like 11-12) such a template for a military officer or national politician perhaps, shouldn't have genius level intelligence. Of course I intentionally chose to fail my Control Rating Roll to stop myself short of Trolling this remark. It basically is SO Frustratingly ...SSSSSSTUPID! Basically, the guy is telling us to compare IQs Irregardless of population standards! So I get all the greek philosophers who developed/discovered empirical thought and scale them with todays standards. Consider that it was when we had probably a world population of 20M comparing it to a population of what is now 6 Billion! ARRRGGGG Sigh... ...

A definite whack on my Faith!

My GM disallowed me from taking Secularist humanism for discipline of faith for a character as it doesnt count as a religion? But discipline of faith The problem with this is how do you define Faith? there is no GURPS definition of it, and the dictionary definition has too many cultural afflicted terminology to it. Here is the game rules of the disadvantage: Disciplines of Faith You live by a strict set of rules in order to achieve a greater understanding of your faith. This might be a personal decision or a requirement of your religion. Such rules are optional in many faiths, though – indeed, some religions might forbid them as excesses! What set of rules do Secularists follow? The wikipedia tenents is a helpful guide . Does it affect my personal decisions? Yes, I can't just do something and justify it as "God told me to do it!" or twist it around to suit my circumstance. Are they a form of rules in order to achieve a greater understanding of my belief structure or fait...

Doubt

Got this from PZ. I wish I got a chance to learn this or to be with people like this earlier in my life. I would have been less confused and all around better. All I can do is probably give another generation a chance I didn't have.

Cesorship, Theism in Science, and Spirituality in Rationality

the one on the top is talking about what Discov. Institue's censorship. The one on the bottom one that I've uploaded into blogger is the said video. It may be deceptive to think that this is a small matter but misinformation grows like a virus. Sanitation and Vigilance is important to prevent its spread. I don't think my country is ever going to be ready for this kind of debate but one can only hope. My grandfather would have been both proud and disgusted. Proud that I take science as seriously as he did, which was very odd for a man of his generation and era, but disgusted at the secularist point of view I have because of the same virtues he taught me. Life tends to throw the sh*t with the candy. edit: got this from pharyngula . spirituality in secularism. there seems to be a assumption that secularism doesn't provide the hope, comfort and insight that religion "offered". I'm sure that many people on the fence about their religion think that and it is on...

Reproductive Health Bill

To all those Filipinos who are out there go to http://www.rhbill.com / to sign the bill petition. know the bill and sign it the bill petition. For those on the fence, read the bill and read the comments. For those against it, try to see the other side of the matter and talk about it with someone who understands the bill. HOUSE BILL NO. 5043 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR A NATIONAL POLICY ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH, RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD AND POPULATION DEVELOPMENT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES Be it enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled : SECTION 1. Extremism and Moral Right

Abortion . I'm particularly neutral about abortion. I've grown up with the arguments against it, but I've only recently learned the arguments for it later in life. This latest abortion-related incident kinda highlights the stark contrast of those against it and further fuels introspection to why are we against it. I know there are many medical reasons why an abortion may be necessary. Having understood the historical death rate of pregnancy which anyone can can see in literature (where it is typical they throw the life of the mother away and motherless character growing up). I'm disinclined to view the anti-abortion as an absolute. If I had to choose between my wife and the baby, the baby is just a clump of cells compared to my wife. I'm sorry If I may sound a bit detached or immoral, but a unformed mind and soul cannot compare to the mother who is better equipped than me in raising such a child. Given my view of abortion when it comes to my situation, the man who ...

Its a Game

RHB . Not meaning to sound so alien, but keeping and enforcing one's rights is one of the most commonly played games of power in the world. Its a zero-sum or constant sum game. When someone gets the advantage, the other suffers. The Church is thinking and reacting entity, don't think its just the priests but many laypersons also derive power through the church. Through authority, positive association, most of the time the legitimacy of their actions. It may not sound that I'm serious given that I'm looking at it in a game's perspective, but if you've followed this blog long enough you know I take rights and freedomes seriously. First, consider why there has not been any success despite the overwhelming majority for RHB. Consider a similar situation, but one that has even reached violent protest: Afagan Women protesting against Taliban laws to remove their rights. If you read the article, you'll hear the chuch or the Imams claiming superiorty and the stupid...

Secularists Falling

True Non-Believers . There are those who doubt the church, but are on the fence only until something really bad happens to them or they fear for something very good in their life. In which case the convert back. Now, these doubters aren't true agnostics, atheists or secularists, they are just doubters. My mother had a prayer that I do not suffer what the doubters do and only then turn back to god. Personally I find that thought terribly disgusting and totally against my nature. It is like the person doesn't know me at all, just like a perfect stranger only to be looked at suspiciously until proven harmless or helpful. Some men who claim to be men of reason, falling for this kind of trap throws a cold wet splash on my hopes of retreating ignorance. When such men, who are so learned, give up their nature to fear is only too human... but being too human is what causes us to suffer, inflict others with prejudice, being enthralled by the mob, and stops us from thinking. When we fa...

To not Reply

Nikolas, I understand this is a post apoc game in gurps set in a post revolution philippines. I'm sorry but I am not inclined to play. No reflection on your part as a GM but the problem is with me. I am really caught up in reality these days and my idea of an RPG escape is a simple d&d escapist fantasy game. i'm still burned out with gurps. another thing is that i cannot game in a philippines that is going thru a death spiral. being a parent and husband with a family and spouse to look out for, such a game is too close to reality and too depressing. reality IS already that close everytime to this happening and fantasizing about it is well, not entertainment to me. it wont make me feel good contemplating this as i have nightmares of this happening. if it does happen, i'm taking my family out of the country immediately and let the pols kill off the lumpen masses and vice versa. sorry, i'm just not in the mood for this kind of stuff. too close to home. depressing. ...

I shouldnt be having this argument

and I'm not because I'm ranting about it here . I was told that the Esoteric Medicine (which ever form you may name) is just as effective as a Doctor's Training in medical treatment. Ok there are many things wrong with that statement. 1) Many people have no empirical system of actually finding out if their esotieric method was successful since they do not function on reason the 1st place. (just self Faith of Convenience) 2) You cannot tell me a Doctor who studied medicine for 5-7+ years. Who, in game terms, who was required to have an very good IQ (IQ12 in GURPS [ 40 ]), has Physician (name specialization) (H) IQ [ 4 ]-12; Diagnosis (H) IQ [ 4 ]-12; Profession Doctor of (name specialization) (A) IQ [ 2 ]-12; Current Affairs (Medical Industry) (E) IQ [ 1 ]-12 ; Electronic Operation (Medical) (A) IQ [ 2 ]-12; Research (A) IQ [ 2 ]-12; Biology (H) IQ [ 4 ]-12; Physiology (H) IQ [ 4 ]-12; and some instances Surgery and Extra Specializations in Physician or Diagnosis is JUST AS...

Is Greed Bad?

I had a conversation where I couldn't voice my honest opinion . And the concept of greed automatically being bad is pretty interesting to a secular mind. As a secularist, greed isn't bad its just a natural force like hunger, thirst, curiousity and horniness. It is not EXPRESSLY bad. It is a desire, but that of money. Would it be possible for an HONEST man to be greedy? People wanting money is not bad, people breaking laws and infringing in the rights of other people in the pursuit of that money is bad. Since there are ways to make money honestly, hence businesses, then why should greed be bad? Just because a person wants a lot of money, doesnt automatically make them bad. I want a LOT of money, just like anyone honest enough to admit to themselves they really do. Technically, I am greedy. Although, unlike the other half of all greedy people, I would gladly work for it. Just because people are greedy doesnt make them bad. In Fact it makes them more predictable and more "usa...

Cynics and Secularists

Religolous . Watched the movie. It makes me think of how all religious books are meant for the religious. Why would somebody who is religious ever pick up God is Not Great, watch religolous, or an opposing religion's religious book. Curiosity is said to be the devil's tool. Strangely in Opus Dei, we were supposed to attack other religions with a keen mind. Strangely that keen mind turned on its self is able to do just a good a job as in other religions. I wonder and already know how my parents would react to listening to God is not Great or Religolous. They would call it "hubris". Strangely, "Hubris" is what all filipinos call what they don't particularly like without any justification. That politician is "mayabang" (arrogant) etc... you hear this a lot in Philippine Culture. But, what one will relialize with some self searching is that, its all about a difference of Values. Strangely, a lot of Filipinos don't understand they feel that way...

Da, di dum

Whats happening . PGDM: Well mom and dad agreed about my approach to the MBA. Which is taking up the Post-Grad Diploma of Management. I've noticed my brothers and I share this common learning pattern where we have better retention and patience if we can practice what we learn as soon as we learn it. Althouth our expectations are different: mom wants me to work full time while I study and I want to work half time so that I can also work on my rackets. Sales: After some talk mom wants me to work in sales. I told her I $uck dealing with people and I'd rather capitalize on an advantage than bring up a weakness. Amidst the conversation she tells me that its not entirely dealing with people which happens to be Marketing. Her explanation is that it is more about strategical and looking for those who have potential openings. I asked her to elaborate and she says: its like just having the gall to walk into a building, ask around, and meet the business and people who are in it to see i...

On the matter of Faith

Mass Combat System . I haven't played a war game before. I've seen it played and it looks slow. I've seen it go fast a time or two, but its still too rare. RPG skirmishes can be fast, it really depends on the GM. I got some practice in my failed Epic FR game. It was an experience that slowly brought me to wanting to do historical medieval/ancient warfare. Mom Bought me some cheap chess piece sets. 5 sets, enough to make a small army and some military exercises with it. Now that I think of it, I should have asked for 10. I remember drawings of Kriegspiel used chess pieces to represent units. I don't exactly know by how it worked but chess pieces seem to make the most sense if I'm to use ambiguous units. I really want to play wargames but its really beyond my budget. I find myself staring at the hobby and comic stores, feeling much the same way I felt when i was a kid. Wondering, if I'll ever make enough of my own money to afford it down the list of my prior...
