A Loophole in Existance

The book isn't very clear though is it? What kind of average? Mean? Median? Mode? This is why we have clarifications, FAQs and such. At any rate, I think you are missing my point. I'm saying that IQ 10 doesn't mean anything differently in 1453 than it does in 2009. Therefore the 1453 equivalent of a template that in 2009 would have a modestly high IQ (like 11-12) such a template for a military officer or national politician perhaps, shouldn't have genius level intelligence. Of course I intentionally chose to fail my Control Rating Roll to stop myself short of Trolling this remark. It basically is SO Frustratingly ...SSSSSSTUPID! Basically, the guy is telling us to compare IQs Irregardless of population standards! So I get all the greek philosophers who developed/discovered empirical thought and scale them with todays standards. Consider that it was when we had probably a world population of 20M comparing it to a population of what is now 6 Billion! ARRRGGGG Sigh... ...

Principles are for the Privilaged

No wonder my Lolo stuck out like a sore thumb . Two interesting views come to mind when living in the Philippines: Principles they teach you and the Reality you live in . My Father and My Grandfather (Mother's side) are two very different people but they can be a good example or story for any advice I can give my hypothetical children. First of (Randomly) lets start with Lolo. Lolo* Ben (Benjamin Nicolo) was born from a wealthy land owning family in Negros. Despite being from Negros he and his family considered themselves Illongo, simply because of the dominant culture of their area (Negros is divided by two languages and two sibling cultures Zegbu'an and Hiligayn'an). *Lolo = Grandfather What I took away from my Lolo Ben is his inflexible and unbending sense of principles. My memories of Lolo were plenty and he made sure I was a kid that loved my science and math (math wasn't that successful). I was heavily influenced by his religious beliefs and his code of c...

On the matter of Faith

Mass Combat System . I haven't played a war game before. I've seen it played and it looks slow. I've seen it go fast a time or two, but its still too rare. RPG skirmishes can be fast, it really depends on the GM. I got some practice in my failed Epic FR game. It was an experience that slowly brought me to wanting to do historical medieval/ancient warfare. Mom Bought me some cheap chess piece sets. 5 sets, enough to make a small army and some military exercises with it. Now that I think of it, I should have asked for 10. I remember drawings of Kriegspiel used chess pieces to represent units. I don't exactly know by how it worked but chess pieces seem to make the most sense if I'm to use ambiguous units. I really want to play wargames but its really beyond my budget. I find myself staring at the hobby and comic stores, feeling much the same way I felt when i was a kid. Wondering, if I'll ever make enough of my own money to afford it down the list of my prior...

Realistic View of Philippine Martial Arts: Lapu Lapu was bad ass

The original article http://www.thearma.org/essays/influence.htm The Short of it : Lapu Lapu was bad ass. The long of it : Tell you one thing about Lapu Lapu, It wasn't a fluke. Rajah Humabon offered 25 of his best to compliment Magellan's own numbers. Which was around 16-20 if i remember (8 died and they were said to bring a score of men). I don't know if you would believe the 1500 mactan warriors vs 20. First you have to consider that mactan is a small island (62 sq km) . The Spanish cite that it was around 1500 mactan warrior, an exaggeration of course (to impress the king no doubt and to eliminate any question to why they lost). But if you look at Mactan the island can only support about a 500 people, at most and without heavy trade for food, given the era. 1500 warriors means that mactan must have a population of 30,000 and all their men are fighting. According to spanish records which cite that Sugbu was 20,000 people, that would give 1000 males who are of ...
