next year my phone contract will end, December 29 2014. I plan to apply all the things I learned about such purposes as well as building my own wardrobe. I've been updating my Sci-fi Notes a lot lately. it got me into detailing the background of the Sci-fi setting I'm going to write about as I work towards being able to write a Novel of 100,000 words. I think I can pull off 20,000 words probably in 3 months, then look for an editor to help me clarify what I'm trying to say. The Novel I want to eventually start writing about is going to be my creative channel as I scale down on my gaming and other distractions. Writing is one of the few things I can do that I feel fulfilled after doing, games seem to be so transient and have such a limited audience. I guess my age is showing. Switched back to Ubuntu . My windows got really bogged down by viruses. I got kicked out of a couple of forums because my IP was sending spam. What clinched it for me was when it took 12 minutes to copy 300 megs to a flash disk. So I got off my ass and installed my second OS. I have reinstall everything again, but Its better this way. If our company goes open source Ubuntu. We will be saving as much as P1.5M or $30,000 a year. The cost to train is almost none given the It personnel and Linux can easily make it own drivers. They have just begun tests and appraising learning curves right now. Hopefully this all goes well, anyway I'd like to know what are the other barriers there are anyway. Several companies have already gone Linux in the Philippines. Windows may just be used just for games in the future. Eventually Open Source will catch on, and it may cost us to be at the crest of the wave but the benefits right now seriously out weigh other options. With Droid due to become one of the most common OS because of Smartphones this Linux synergy will create new opportunities. Near Tech independence in at least one of the most key aspects in computing.

Living with Corruption . I've been following the Philipine Airsoft Forums and found out that when I registered my gun and filed for a Permit to Transport they screwed with me to get me to pay more. This isn't the Nth instance I got screwed because of how I look and how I approach the situation. The most recent occurance of me being screwed was when I applied for a replacement license because I lost it having to keep going in and out of villages (which Pisses me off) as some villages don't accept regular IDs. The "Tactic" they did was give me an ambigous problem with my renewal which was forcing me to go all the way (1 hour away because of traffic + it was nearing lunch break) to push me to make a bribe. 2 things I just got working: Our scx-4200 samsung 3 in one printer in ubuntu. my Php250 AK magazine. Took a while, probably 2 hours on getting several things to work on ubuntu: the nvidia driver, the free 3d fps game, and the printer. The AK mag probably took a total of 3 hours. So I spent the total of 5 hours today problem solving. What they don't tell you . In a Condominium, they actually pay the Condo to have access to the residence and offer them internet. PLDT installs a equipment with a limited number of slots (which only PLDT can determine) that would allow them to communicate and provide their services to the condo. If they don't have enough slots, it will appear that the Condo has PLDT internet capability while you wait 2-3 weeks for them to fix that. If their slots are full, they won't tell you that they are and they won't upgrade their facilities (even if it is their responsibility) because the costs to do so will out weigh the revenue of another resident who will pay for internet. That Technical Service or their Call Centers DOESN'T KNOW THIS and cannot help you, even if your problem has been sited for 7 or so months! Having lost a Thesis 3 weeks before the deadline because of questionable computer people have made me very traumatized about the cost of computers. Even if someone tells me they got the parts X% I won't really feel bad about my purchase because when it comes to electronic parts here its hard to get Bang for Buck... its mostly about covering your ass. Here are the warranties of the two more trusted places to get computers in the Phils. Read carefully and compare, note that PCX has a return and exchange policy which has a very narrow window but at least has one nonetheless. Villman IMO has better warranty because it is simpler for me to understand and doesn't have confusing stuff like the last part of the PCX one which can mean: if its not covered by either the manufacturers warranty or our warranty we won't honor it... When I got my adapter repaired in Mega I first went to SST laptop n PC shop the guy told me 2 hours and 100 pesos diagnosis. After 2 hours we came back and found that he said water got in and burned out the adapter. We know that water wasn't the cause and we weren't electricians. We had to pay P100 for nothing, They offered us P3,200 for a new adaptor. Looking for better prices we stumbled on SOS, a few steps nearby in the same Cyberzone. An older gentleman asked us what we needed and we asked if they had an adaptor. We showed to him our broken adaptor and he immediately brought us to his desk to evauate it for repair. He then explained to us in a way we undestood what was wrong and It wasnt that it got wet (as the guy is SST said) but the transmission fluid leaked out due to overheating. Anyway, we bought a new printer, the Epson C79 even with the Continuous Ink Supply is not worth it because of the Printer Head life of the Epson C79 is roughly a 1-2000 pages. So even if you can print DIRT cheap no one honest can fix your printer (Don't get it fix in shopsvile arcade in GH, its a scam the guy only knows how to unclog your printer head which you can do yourself) and the printer head chip is 90% the value of the printer... you end up buying a new printer. Mass Combat System . I haven't played a war game before. I've seen it played and it looks slow. I've seen it go fast a time or two, but its still too rare. RPG skirmishes can be fast, it really depends on the GM. I got some practice in my failed Epic FR game.
