Over all a good watch but its slow pace is not for everyone. My problems with it are a few Geek related ones: - The technology It was too high tech for something that is supposed to be in late 1960s. Camera based night vision, Armor that is able to soundly stop SMG/Pistol and carbine rounds are very unusual. - Tactical Doctrine. There was no dispersal, every Armored unit was carrying a Machine Gun. Machine guns are Squad weapons, 1 per 6-12 people are issued, and is primarily a "heavy" weapon not meant for urban combat. There are no tactical diversity on roles- no lighter fast reaction units, no variation in armament and individual unit roles, and no usage of combined arms. I just answered a question that is a history major should be able to answer. "Why was the tradition of pricing land equal to its annual productivity instead of future productivity?" If that doesn't get me enough geek cred, then... stuff like that happens. I'm doing too much homework that is not my work . Answering questions that pertain to subject matters I have personally took extracurricular effort to study is a weakness. Knowledge and study are things we hold with so much pride and confidence, it is no wonder when a chance to prove it comes along one cannot help but get sucked in to act on it. Eventually I will forget a lot of this, and will tire arguing about "How much wealth, a knight should have?" and focus more on my business studies and at work. Challenging popular point of views as a habit actually encourages trolling. I'm not an expert of memetics but I do understand the concept and some of the psychology around it. As I come to understand it, I understand the role of the Troll- at least the secularist Troll's job: It is to maintain probe for weaknesses in an idea and bring it out before it can do any damage. Prevention, Vigilance, and constant challenge have that very interesting idea governing it: the idea that everything is imperfect and all we can really do is continue to work at it. I've gotten to like writing, too bad I don't get paid for it. Still, even if I'm not a professional it's nice to know I can't be scorned for my terrible grammar and spelling. Given the realities of how the markets work and the conflicting interests of many parties, a nice puzzle to try to ask is "What should the goverment Spend on to get out of this economic situation?". The first thing that comes to mind is infrastructure. Of course, there will be infrastructure creation it is a very basic element the problem with the level of "basic" is asking "infrastructure for what?". Then comes the task of identifying strengths, weaknesses, and one's (economic) role. It then becomes a question of how well you know your country, your people and their strengths. Entering the equations with unrealistic-ungrounded values the first problematic factor that comes in making this decision. Patriotism is great in getting the job done, but not knowing what battle-field to fight in. Since I've previously talked about how the State can train a soldier to do quite amazing things, I've often wondered how a state can instead invest in a scientist, technician or entrepreneurs. The Philippines spends around 2% GDP in the military. I figure about roughly 40% of our GDP is lost in corruption and the feudalism of the organization. looking at what America was able to do when they allocated 1% of their GDP on the space project during kenedy's time (and currently 5% on the military). Particularly the difference between a newbie and a old-guard: Knowing that they already have the capacity to answer their own questions. Its quite simple to answer a GURPS rule questions, Just think about how you would do it. usually the questions arise when people want to add legitimacy or credibility to their own solution. I've come to find Philippine Medicine Very Scary. Lately my wife had a problem when a doctor aggravated her belly button problem, disregarded her concerns and made some annoying assuptions that put it plainly he wasn't interested. Then I have my "strange" bump anomaly that occurs without the slightest clue of why, with only my guess being fitness related. The most recent happening, my heart burn, put another problem forward. I've had several full range examinations. Executive check ups, that also examined my stomach. Now I'm wondering by the frequency of these tests, why wasn't it detected earlier (and why has house raised our expectations regarding the diagnosis ability of doctors).
