It would be cool to run a game again... but i'm just too busy . Well a good use of blogs is to put down whats on your mind and I wish i could run a game. I've got this cool system that encourages players to choose their People wisely in the Byzantine game I want to run in the future. basically I've given descriptive traits to each people like: militant, fighters, steppe nomad, merchant, equestrian... etc. to represent background lenses that allow them to raise certain stats (skills or attributes) beyond 13. So typically, unless the character has certain talents, 13 is the high stat... then those of a certain background tend to have traits or skills up to 14-15+... Characters who do not fall in this range, despite the limitations of their background take up Unusual Background Advantage at 5 to 10cp. Failing Parts . Some of the computer's parts have reached the end of their service life. The computer was purchased 2004, its been 4 years (3 years from the end of warranty). Jan 2007 , puchased Pentium D 2.8Ghz chip and P5V??? motherboard. No motherboards supported Pentium 4 chips anymore so I had to get LGA775(?) socket motherboard. 2 ram chips failed that year. I was down to 1G ram. Mar 2008 , bought new graphics card, surprisingly my old 128mb video card (ATI sapphire 9550) was about to give out. Fan was broken seemed to still work. July 2008 , last 2 Ram chips gave way. Bought new 1G kingston 533mhz for P1,050. and the week prior, the 500Wat Powersupply gave up. Upgraded to a 600 wat for P1,450. The Unification of China . I find the Spring and Autumn, and the Warring States Period one of the few Asian settings I would play. As compared to Legend of the Five rings which is, to me, as fantastic as Forgotten Realms but Asian. I'm slowly growing an intollerance for High (dizzyingly high) fantasy. Its like in Batman, the Dark Knight, the audience is getting smarter. Fantasy is not that interesting cause it is a lot of power wasted. People are beginning to appreciate economy of force and resourcefulness compared to raw power and strength of will. Anyway, read up on QTWS and I admit that I wouldn't GM it well because Chinese culture is very alien to me. I'm very western, well culturally American because of the media influence (including literature-wise) . If I were to run it I would run it By the Book, simply cause I don't know any better... but if you think about it Thats pretty ok. No surprises and no second guessing.

I've personally worked on my ability to read and interpret people since I got out of highschool . Basically since I got ostracized and back-stabbed by a group of users. I'm just an amature but what I feel that makes me better than the average self-schooled person reader is that I don't act on my obviously crackpot data... of course its not that my gut has been wrong about things... more that its been right too many times and I still don't act on it. What the point of knowing when there is no action to use the information ? well it handy when seeing problems in the future. maybe October . Maybe, just maybe I'll find the time to run a game that is in sync with everyone's sched at around October. If I had one more game what would it be? Medieval or Mahadlika??? hmmm... But running a game and making a game has pretty much the same draw for me, why run a game for 2+ people when i can work to making a game that can be played by hundreds or thousands! I plan to use 3d to Model the scenes for perspective and to arrange the elements then draw over or fix them up in photoshop. Then Model and Rigg a horse for animation. One of my inspiration is Mount and Blade and I want to make open ended/sandbox RPG about Mahadlika.

How work works (a clarification) . despite we are paid by the hour... by the day. thats now how work works over here. If there is something to be done, we do it. If it will take 50 hours in a 40 hour week... we take the extra 2 hours to do the job. I can tell my boss that I'm leaving early but the work will still be there. it won't do itself and the deadlines don't change. This is not a complaint . this is how the industry works. Doing what is needed to do the job is not a hazard but a virtue. Guys in the industry know that there will always be problems. The software we use is very complicated and never perfect, the same process doesn't necessarily have the same output. The programs are so complicated there is a giant room of variable untested by the program makers that the artists have to address in usually the last minute. I checked out the Osric . after talking to dan howard and doing my own research about armors I'm having a harder and harder time playing any other game but GURPS, especially when he's doing Low Tech. As my personal knowledge of how warfare, management/ leadership, problem solving, and story telling slowly improves other systems are becoming more alien and stranger... :P What is OSRIC (old shcool reference and index compilation)? its old school 1st Ed... I can't help it but Game theory and Game system design has gone very far in terms of verisimilitude and honing the craft of story telling only to go back. So much work . its been long over due that I gain the skills I need to earn barely enough to help raise a family. Time is really not on my side so I really have to pour a ton of hours at work to master a large number of skill and abilities to hit the minimum i need to secure a decent standard of living. Its unfair that the pay difference is 10x compared to individuals with the same skills and proficiencies as those in a 1st world country... even if the standard of living has only a x5 difference. An 3d artist here is still below the middle class while a 3d artist there is well inside the middle class in other countries... but lets hope market forces succeed we kick the ass of those complacent artists whose jobs I'd gladly take for a fraction of his price.
