Very Tired

How work works (a clarification). despite we are paid by the hour... by the day. thats now how work works over here. If there is something to be done, we do it. If it will take 50 hours in a 40 hour week... we take the extra 2 hours to do the job. I can tell my boss that I'm leaving early but the work will still be there. it won't do itself and the deadlines don't change.

This is not a complaint. this is how the industry works. Doing what is needed to do the job is not a hazard but a virtue. Guys in the industry know that there will always be problems. The software we use is very complicated and never perfect, the same process doesn't necessarily have the same output. The programs are so complicated there is a giant room of variable untested by the program makers that the artists have to address in usually the last minute.

True that we don't get paid much, but we are here for the training. its not permanent, as well, it is expected that once we master all the skills we need that we move on to better pay, bigger responsibilities, and greater challenges.

OT is a way of life in the industry. It hones a artists ability to keep single minded attention in difficult and challenging work. It allows us to understand our work flow and allows us to meet challenging deadlines that put a premium price to our labor and services. Learning to cope with these hard conditions help enforce discipline, learn one's own productivity strengths and a give head for one's limits.

we take responsibility for our work so we have to put in the extra time to do it, and learn its lessons.
