Hope and Faith

Hope is wishing things are better than as is. Faith is like trust, but trust with less to go on. Faith is an intellectual vice. Faith is believing in something because you want it to be true. Anyone can wish for something at the cost of their life, wealth, and survival... But hat effect would that have on their well being or their loved ones.

Hope is the wishful thinking that allows a person to work towards a greater good. Hope requires a positive outlook, on that has several psychological benefits. I dare say one can be extremely rational yet have hope.

Faith and Reason - there are a lot of atheist quotes about the vice and sins of faith. What's scary about faith is that it has no corrective process. Intelligence has a corrective process, because of science but Faith has cognitive traits that remind me of gambling with rising stakes.

Reason is a virtue if faith is a vice... But to me reason is the default in a reflecting mind. Strangely faith requires a leap while reason requires work, study and reflection of who we want to be... Isn't this what we seek in Piety?
