Monday Morning

Monday Morning Its minutes before a meeting and I feel like writing some stuff: 1. Little Niko's lower incisors have appeared, this is the reason he was inconsolable for 2 hours last night. 0-60 crying and was so difficult to lul to sleep. You can hypnotize them, but you need some special lighting and a place to rest when they are made drowsy. Also you can only try when they calm down in that moment between bawls. 2. Work is going to be hard and very difficult this week. Like every week. 3. I need to lose weight. I need to get back to 165, but in order to do this I may need to get my house in order. If my wife is OK, there is someone to fix her stuff when she gets back from work, and we have time to work out, then this is possible. I need to diet even more. I eat relatively less these days then previous year. Problem is that I'm more sedentary and more stressed. I need to have the oatmeal easily accessible and ram it down my throat to shut my stomach up. 4. Making quality time

Greatness by looking the Otherway

I learned a Big Secret... not so big because I kinda expected it, the greatness of our company came from looking the other way. This doesn't mean innovation, but when there was dirty dealings the top just looked at the other way... and now Karma has come to take away 80% of our market share. My Parents hate having to Kiss Ass and See the dirty underbelly of work. They have for a long time and left someone to do their dirty work. Its just like the religion they love so much, its so dirty and flawed but they are old and would like to only see the nice things. My mom's comment to people who struggle with getting justice from the church is somewhere here so I don't need to bring it up again. Simply put, leave us the illusion please, leave reality outside before you come in. I got reprimanded for not kissing ass. But I got what I came for, the contract signed at least the pledge recorded. I don't like being a Dick, its easy to say yes and bend over and take it up the ass but

More Experience with B$#!^

I now record all my meetings as part of my basic protocol and the fact that philippine law allows me and it can be used as evidence. I don't know these people personally, but having the recording and my memory of the flow of conversation sort out all the inconsistencies and see the fallacies and arguments more clearly. This is the guy who kept the list of fallacies and baises and used as any person would sacred scripture when assessing their own thoughts. Looking at my own biases not only makes the biases of other clearer but clear enough that I would be able to guess the motives (if intentional or unintentional, based on how much knowledge the person would have of the circumstance). The conversation plays back to me and the line of reasoning gets glaringly clearer, my mind doesn't want to go there. Fact: even skilled liars cant get fact straight in a conversation that runs more than 30mins. Fact: You only have means of defense if you have all the things they have said in a han

Blogging with new Wireless keyboard.

Buying Mac-shit in the Philippines is hella-expensive. Its >$80 for a wireless keyboard, and this is the kind not integrated and you have to have a bag to hold all your IT stuff. This generic chinese keyboard has a leather case, (which I should provide a picture). It is integrated and it only cost <$40. There is a large noticeable difference in words per minute as I type with this keyboard compared to the touch keyboard. There is that feedback mechanism as you press on a key, that signals when the next key should reflexively be pressed. I'm sure there is good possibility that I can get this or probably for half the price somewhere. But given the convenience and my busy schedule, this is a great buy. I've learned to calculate my opportunity cost in going out of my way to get stuff that like this: my globe line, canvasing for a smart business phone and paying some of my bills.

Daddy Monster

Almost forgot about these pics. Since the comic filter on my wife's mac makes it look too dark, and my teeth so contrasting I thought it would be a great fun to do a monster theme. Ahhh, monsterous laughter with my little boy's sleepy indifference.

Bringing Down the Gauntlet

I'm not allowed to record conversations unless with permission otherwise the recording is inadmissible . Worse is that in the Philippines it is an illegal act to record a conversation: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, not being authorized by all the parties to any private communication or spoken word, to tap any wire or cable, or by using any other device or arrangement, to secretly overhear, intercept, or record such communication or spoken word by using a device commonly known as a dictaphone or dictagraph or detectaphone or walkie-talkie or tape recorder, or however otherwise described: It shall also be unlawful for any person, be he a participant or not in the act or acts penalized in the next preceding sentence, to knowingly possess any tape record, wire record, disc record, or any other such record, or copies thereof, of any communication or spoken word secured either before or after the effective date of this Act in the manner prohibited by this law; or to rep

Playing Hardball

I'm learning how to Play-Hardball. Today our brokers practically did fraud, claiming they had issued Receipts for the stay (one of our brokers being a sex offender and his trial and transcript can be found online, including a picture) but clearly there is no receipt of receiving these receipts. Basically claims made with and no proof and ignoring the protocall. Interestingly We are swamped with potential business. It is a simple matter of using the failure to pay for TWO MONTHS as grounds as their ACTIVE termination of the contract. We will suffer maybe 2 weeks of delay, but we will have a new campaign up and running, which happens to have a down-payment in most cases. Suspicious Activity . I'm beginning to notice the severe frequency of shady business going on can really alter my world view... but I have to always tell myself, this is the situation in one of the most lucrative markets in the world, BPO in the Philippines. It also help there is a slight cultural bias for Philip

More Alignment to Open Source Goals. Sad truth of our Apdev

Just learned more about our software development division. Basically the use MS platforms and C#. Stallman, Richard (June 26, 2009). "Why free software shouldn't depend on Mono or C#" . Free Software Foundation . Retrieved July 2, 2009 . "The danger is that Microsoft is probably planning to force all free C# implementations underground some day using software patents. ... We should systematically arrange to depend on the free C# implementations as little as possible. In other words, we should discourage people from writing programs in C#. Therefore, we should not include C# implementations in the default installation of GNU/Linux distributions, and we should distribute and recommend non-C# applications rather than comparable C# applications whenever possible." I have yet to make a formal shared-services strategy report, but with fundamental business principles and how things appear we want to wean off as much as possible from License and Patent Traps/Monopolies
