Been Busy

I've been busy lately. If you follow my wife's blog, they you've heard about the scam we fell into. According to our driver, its a typical scam where they take the opportunity to hit you while your moving and they are “still” to create the illusion that you hit them. Anyway, there was panic which I'm really PO'ed that it ruined my more calm approach to the problem. It cost us 1k and in return a lesson learned and another notch in my already riddled distrust of cabs.

I heard money is even getting harder these days. So expect more scams in the future.
Things that Pissed me off: You know how I hate the Makati Traffic Police (especially their hazardous driving farce). Its strange why they don't bilk the counter flow instigators in makati ave. Its just so weird.

Taken. It is a good action move, sans any details that will color expectations wrong. I happen to really like it.

It makes you think that if you were part of CIA or special forces with due warning nobody should mess with the your family, especially when you have nothing to lose. Its just stupid to fight someone who has nothing to lose because they will use every means to bring you down, not to mention, cruelly twist the knife as they kill.
Watching the movie I really empathize with the character, especially his are skills I understand, admire and wish for my own. Using them without regard to consequences makes for a very bloody affair where every backswing or sidestroke can have a very deadly ripple effect.
My favorite part is how he turns the whole criminal world upside down. If you think that one man with a set of key skills can't do that, think again. Bad guys are finite, it takes precious time to recruit, train, and trust fellow criminals to do the things they do. Killing one or two can set back an operation for days, killing a whole host of them can cripple it for the next pretender to the throne... who happens to be less established than the previous organization.

Of course there are repercussions. Highly skilled individuals are not that because of being naturally talented. They all have their external motivations: family, country, love, religion. Stronger ties allow for individuals to tap greater limits, at the same time create very easy weakness. These weaknesses are what create the balance of power and why most good people do nothing... but when repurcussions are thrown to the wind, thats when things get interesting.

Realistically bad guys are careful. They know their limits and know the consequences of who they target. Observing Philippine corruption, bad guys work with enough people to make the job a sure thing. They pay all those who can be paid and eliminate the few key resistances with death or hostage (making the target know his family is at risk).
Imagine a Filipino who grew up and was exiled in the marcos era. In his place of exile he had gotten caught up in an organization with need of his skills, resourcefulness, and talents; training him and honing him. Typically the story will end with the person retiring. But if that highly skilled person will have family or ties that were victim to the sh*t here typically the response of the criminals is ease away... but if there was one dumb a$$, it takes only one dumb a$$ to make it all crumble.
That would be a nice comic or novel.
