I know what to run

Not that I have any players. I want to run Gothic Traveller aka Fading Suns. Some changes will be that I will be using the Traveller Economic Models to allow players to buy and sell stuff, using their cunning and canny to buy low, sell high, and find the best deals.

The other lessons that I learned was balancing Ultra-Tech goods. Basically, how to keep it Simple for Me, Fun for my players and Easily in Control. The nice thing about the new economic model is I know how the players make their money and how to make a killing if they want to go into that kind of detail. I'm not afraid of allowing them some cool stuff like powered armors, mono-wire blades, and anime-like cool gear without overly complicating combat and turn sequence.

The changes I will make to Fading suns fore most is to use the Traveller mode of travel. Jump drives allowing character to move through the vastness of space instead of Jump Gates. The change will make maps pasec based and allow characters to freely leave a world without fear of the fleets guarding the jump gate. Also the parsec based model allows for Free Traders and thats where the PCs will be part of.

Players will be adventurers not Nobles as I've scaled up Nobles when I had to rework the economics part. Nobles are now about Status 5+ and Status has been expanded to 10. TL is more of a measure of Quality/Standard of Living then technological level. As an Idea the Philippines is TL5 compared to the progressive worlds TL8. So in the Philippines a job of the same wealth level pays much less than a Job of the same wealth level of a more progressive country- like the real world.

So PCs will be visiting many back-water worlds like the equivalent of 3rd worlds who are relatively poorer but have access to the same equipment but with a premium because of the difference of TL of these goods and the local TL.


Its Cheaper to Buy in a TL9 Power Armor in a TL8 world than to buy a TL10 power armor in that same world. So despite the distribution of many TL10 elements the most worlds are 4-5 TLs below the Captial World, 3-4 TLs below the Major Worlds, and 2-3 TLs below the Hub Worlds.

Despite the Vastness of Space and its many planets, the only valuable planets are earth-like worlds which represents why in a parsec there may be none or no system worth going to. If not for a point just a point to hop from if the system is dense enough to act as an anchor point.
