Skillset for the Biz

Goal - By 2013, I am cable of building a call center from the ground up (as Open Source as Possible!). By ground up, I mean understanding all the parts that allows one to build an office from a " warm shell ". Then the IT infra structure: Email server, database, Domain Control, Financial Systems, HR systems, IT systems, Inventory Tracking System, Filing/Documentation Systems, Security, Desktop Systems, Phone, DID, PBX, Enterprise Wiki, Website, and of course the money-maker: the call manager. Then start and run a campaign: personally learning to use the program and its key functions and how to program a campaign, then how to run a campaign and collect and document all industry "doctrine". To document everything and create all the data sheets and templates needed for this. To make myself able to replicate a call center again and again from start to finish, assuming with a team. To systematically record, update and test for best practice. To do all these self impro

Sick and Tired

I hate complications at work, who doesn't? Anyway, I'm still sick right now. My fever relapsed yesterday, but I'm better now. I think I would have gotten better sooner if I remembered to take the decongestant I had in my medical bag. I don't have sniffles, I do have a less phlegm today than yesterday. My cough is not that painful, unlike yesterday, I can't say the same for my wife. still I have cough, some phlegm, and eat up a lot of tissue in the course of a couple of hours. overall, I'm sick and with my reduced performance I am also tired. Tired, I'm not that sharp or quick with ideas and seeing solutions. Although, when I'm sick I have freaky dreams about the stuff that bugg me. The fact that a Vendor who is supposed to be Cloud Services, through the internet, is selling us the infrastructure for the International Leased Line, which will not improve their product costs. Its like someone selling you the Public Vehicle Subscription (Cloud se

Trust and Competence

These are two attributes we tend to rate people we work with. When these ratings fall below the level of tolerance in a company, this means that person needs to move on.  In my experience, I find few highly capable people but we always find a good number of people we can trust. Trust or Social Norms, is a commodity that I'm more familiar with. Social Norms is a very huge area, but I got the hang about most of the humanist side of things and why such practice tends to be very rewarding.  Opportunities will always be there, and ways to bring the skill level of the people you can trust (and who will reciprocate the loyalties) can always be improved. Trust is something that once lost, can never be recovered.  Its easier to optimize a business where all the costs and expenses are minimized and the productivity maximized  People are another matter, than to main a real positive and healthy relationship with others. You can't game them like a machine because they can eventua

Sick Again, Baby is Sick,

Sick Again, this time I got it from my son. What aggravated it is really the hours of my work. I work from after lunch, at around 1pm to around 12mn. I'm at the office from 1:30-2:30, but I'm already answering emails by around 10am. This week, I left makati by 6 at the latest and headed to Libis, going through 2 hours of traffic. After 6, traffic is so bad along C5 from in front of Tiendesitas to the Dampa or Shopwise, where the traffic gets lighter. I spent approximately 50mins there, and its not even raining. Its really the 10+ hours of work that gets me. I'm not built for it, and my dad is certainly not built for it. So its no surprise I'm not as well. Leave for Baby I took a sick leave for my son this friday. Its because we can't trust the nanny. There is so much superstition and poor ability to follow instructions that its aggravation. The don't think anything is happening unless the baby consumes medicine. We went to the experts, both the emergenc
