Winning the LOTTO, an attachment trap

Any attachment creates an irrationality that is tied to loss aversion. Lotto and entertaining the possibility is one such kind of trap.

Yes, I bought a Lotto ticket. The prize is Php400 Million. I guess mathematically having a ticket gives me an "infinity" better chance of winning the prize, but every succeeding ticket is such a small chance of winning its pointless.

So I got a Random Number Generation made by the Lotto Machine. I learned its called LP or Quick Play in the US.

The fantasies that come up given the possibility has a host of irrationalities. Strange is that I have to be aware of the numbers i have to check if I won while trying not to entertain those thoughts too much that I'd feel bad and a viscous cycle ensues.

But since is my blog I will list what I would love to do.
  • Split it up and budget it.
  • Invest in full time lessons in Mandarin and travelling China.
  • Get an assistant to go around china with me and help me with the foot work in following up leads and analysis. Use the money to learn my way around and be fully proficient (probably take a few years). Develop this into a practical training system, for highly motivated people who want to bring business from anywhere in the world to the Philippines. (Diplomat/Sales Training course).
  • Obviously all the baby concerns.
  • Start a small investment firm, specialized in micro loans.
  • Set up a self perpetuating Library System Services for provinces. Basically its a digital library using LUBUNTU computers and printing services so that people in far flung provinces can access the internet and education online, while have hard copies of their notes.
  • Find a way to fix PNP, more accountable, more secure, and better compensated. Create programs, i guess private (business) cooperative agreements that help police focus on their jobs and remind them of their civil duties. Tie this in with the Citizen Assistance Force project, where they can be augmented by volunteers. Airsoft tourism becomes a way for police to get better training, acquire resources, and be exposed to a more international standard of conduct.
  • Automate many government services to decrease corruption and give all citizens all information needed to stop corruption (especially in customs).
  • Invest in developing BPOs farther and farther from metro manila by helping create the utilities infrastructure needed. Diffuse the growth and allow for these new places (ideally near key ports) to have a chance in having better infrastructure.
  • Invest in bringing more internet cabling to the country.
  • Work with higher education, particularly in higher education to have more 2 year vocational skill programs in place.
  • Help automate, simplify, and make more transparent Welfare disbursement.
  • Use new found PNP leverage to break up syndicates and allow parents to send their working children to Child care services. Find a way for the entire community to pay for it, (like in my city, people are willing to get the children off the streets if the is a strong and active force who will take care of the matter).
  • More Accessible, Incentivised and Cheaper Education services for Quality of Life improvement. From protection against scams and con artists, how to prevent corruption (how to safely report and gather evidence), balancing work and family life.
