Philippine History Game

Have a game on the Nov 14, it set in Phil History but not in Mahadlika. Mahadlika is an altered history setting, better used for people familiar with the basic Philippine History time line (and where will i find someone like that ) from point of deviation.

I have 3 confirmed players. I will write up some few details, but don't want to over prepare, and over expect (from both parties). Being extrodinary characters without combat abilities is one of the challenges in Philippine History. Especially since Filipinos were second class citizens in their own land.

Planned Game at Nov 14, Saturday.
Area: San Juan, Greenhills

Genre: (probably) Drama, Action, Thriller
Game System: GURPS 4e
Power Level: Realistic, Upper Middle (120cp characters)
Game Primer: depending on demand.
What to bring:
A basic understanding of Philippine History
An Open Mind
A Character Concept you want to Role-Play.

What to Expect: (Probable itinerary)
6pm Meet up
6:30 Dinner- discussion
7:30 pm Character Creation and Setting Introduction
8:30 - 11pm Game.

NB: As for the Game Content, we are defaulting with Philippine History. Useful Reading would be the El Fili and Noli, and History of the Filipino People by Teodoro Agoncilio. The time-line is at 1865 (opening of Cebu to world trade, 5 years after manila opened to world trade).

Do you need extensive Knowledge of Philippine History?
- No, this is a learning experience, basic knowledge of 19C philippines is Passing your Basic High-school History (and still remembering the finer points).
Do I need an Extensive Background for my character?
- No, you just need an Idea as a platform. Choose any fictional character who you want to put in the Phil history context. You can draw it from stories of your distant relatives, modern pop culture, or contemporary archetypes and how they will be translated through the 19C Philippine lens. If you can connect with the character then you can probably play the character.
Do you get XP killing things?
- No, XP rewards reflect character growth. Do stuff that would make a person grow (spiritually, intellectually, or maturity). Test limits, Explore, Succeed, Inquire, etc. these all result to XP.
Do we still get to kill stuff?
- Its a role-playing game, if your character will elect to kill in the circumstance depends on how you think the character will act.
Can I play a psychopath?
- As a Free-thinking exercise I would allow it If I can trust it won't derail the experience of everyone else (like Dexter morgan). But I would rather begin with the players taking on roles they can easily connect with.
Is the GM going to be a Historical-Accuracy Nazi?
- No, I dont have a perfect understanding of 19C phil history but I will try to communicate the setting as best I can without overwhelming the players. If some concepts will be difficult to swallow I will give players a chance to adjust. Ex. 19C Etiquette demanded that the lesser act most respectful to their betters, or suffer justifiable physical abuse.

any more questions I will try to clear up here.
