[old news] Anino Raid. Talking to some autodesk service people and my boss who is a veteran 3d modeler and animator, for learning purposes Autodesk won't really chase after the small fry. In fact Piracy is one of the best ways of building a large User base for a program. If you think about it, the cost of the software and the cost to train people to use it makes for it a terribly expensive investment.

Small time piracy, is in the equation of every major software company. Its an unspoken rule, all they have to do is leak it and not act on the piracy and they will have an edge over their competitor. These companies don't have active dedicated agents looking for pirated copies, why else are all the major computer pirate

Why should they, it takes some effort to chase after every small fry that pirates to study 3ds max, not to mention this is already the Standard strategy of getting the program out and having more people trained in them.
