Made this for a Traveller Game

Dragonfly Class. Made this for the 400 dton Ox-Class heavy merchant for the Traveller Game I'm gearing up for. I got a go signal and Just working on the Ox Class specs and I'm pretty much done.

3d Tactics.
Despite the 3ds of space, tactics will essentially be 2 dimensions. What has changed is the directions the enemy can flank the other force. I've checked the Hard science stuff, which unlike archaic or modern warfare, needs some reality trimming.

Basically I made it that combat is much like the same basic elements of 2d war and modern war. There are the Assault Units (Carriers and their Fighters, Battleships and Gun Boats), Heavy Blocker Units (Dreadnaughts, Fortresses, Capitol Ships, etc.), and the Flankers (Cruisers, Corvettes, and Fighter Squadrons).

In war there a basic principles: You have one team make a expected approach, a second team make the flanking approach, and the third team in reserve to capitalize an advantage or to cover the retreat. (from Ground forces)

To my understanding its just like soccer/football.

The Roles.
The Blockers. Dreadnaughts, Fortresses, and Capitol Ships are meant to take more or less the direct brunt of the attack. They have sloped and armored fronts and can take the damage of the best weapon of the era. Nuclear devices are moot because of point defense, only energy weapons or ultra high velocity matter. Behind the blockers are the assault Ships who manuver from cover to unleash all their fire power.
In soccer: The Defenders/ The Full Backs

The Flankers. Because the blockers are only armored to one side, they are vulnerable to attacks from the Flankers. Fast ships who try to achieve a tactical advantage by approaching from an unexpected direction.
In soccer: The Forwards/Attackers

The Assault. Because Blockers are specialized for armor, the Assault ships are specialized for offensive ability. Assault Ships are highly specialized weapon platforms that contain the most lethal weapons of the given era. Because of the energy and effort for specialization the largest classes of ship have been divided into two distinct specializations. The delegated tasks are very important especially against flankers since assault ships can obliterate them while they fight in the cover of their blockers (who are protecting them against the opposing assault force).
In soccer: The Mid fielders or Half Backs

The Support. Every tooth has its tail. Usually in the reserve position they are very far from the battle field and help with repairs, maintenance, injuries and casualties.
In soccer: The Goal
